USING GOOGLE AND MICROSOFT MAPS
Note! licenses will be required from Google or Microsoft. The end user of DataHost
or WebLink is responsible for obtaining those licenses and all related costs.

In order to use those "on-line" mapping programs you will require DataGate version 3.5.7 or later. A copy can be downloaded from our website http://www.avl-software.com/Downloads/  If you are a new customer please contact us for a demonstration license key before downloading.

NOTE: If you are running an earlier version of DataGate you must download the executable version (.exe)  If you download and install the full version you will delete the historical records. To install, close down DataGate if it is running.  Unzip the downloaded .exe file and save in the same directory that held the earlier version of DataGate. Usually C:/program files/datagate.  For a new installation, download the "full install" version, unzip and double click on setup.exe and follow the instructions on the screen.

When DataGate is installed and running select VIEW/OPTIONS/WEB on the top menu bar and the following panel should appear.

Put a check mark in the Mapping Web Interface box and select either Microsoft Virtual Earth Maps or Google Maps. If you selected Virtual Earth Maps, you must agree to the licensing terms and then click on OK to close the set-up.

If you selected Google Maps you must request a "key" from the Google maps API website http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/  Click on "sign up for a key" on the top left corner. You will be required to provide the URL of your server running DataGate. This is a domain name that will resolve (point to) the I.P. address of your DataGate server.  When you get the key, copy and paste into the box and then click on OK to complete the setup.

Google Maps will only work with our Web Browser interface. DataHost will not link to Google Maps. You will require WebLink licenses from Datalink to use Google Maps. If you are running DataHosts you will also require a Web Browser screen running on the same display. The DataHost screen can be reduced in size if other maps are not being displayed.
